Mongolia: Adoption Program
As many of you know Small World is represented in Mongolia by a married couple, Surenhuu and Ariunaa. Unfortunately I received word this morning from Ariunaa that her husband and my friend Surenhuu has died of a sudden heart attack. We have lost a wonderful advocate for the orphaned children of Mongolia and he will be sorely missed. Below is a picture of me with Surenhuu, Ariunaa and their teenage daughter hiking together in the mountains outside Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. He was a kind man who enjoyed his family and his work helping children. Please keep Ariunaa and their 2 daughters in your prayers.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Mongolian Ministry of Social Welfare and Labor has announced that they are not accepting any new applications until further notice. They are continuing to complete adoption cases for families currently registered with them, but will not accept new applications until further notice. Small World continues to communicate with the Mongolian government about this situation.
Small World has been placing children from Mongolia into American homes since 2003. Families wishing to adopt from Mongolia can expect a referral in approximately 1-3 years after your dossier is completed. If you are requesting a boy the referral averages 1 year, but if you are requesting a girl the referral averages 2-3 years. Currently, Small World is placing children ages 1 year and up from Mongolia. Throughout the adoption process your child is cared for in an orphanage. Small World’s experienced staff will lead you through the process step by step. Our representatives in Mongolia are English speaking and are dedicated to making your trip to Mongolia an informative and memorable experience.
Please note that as of March 2008, Mongolia is no longer accepting applications from families that have previously adopted from other countries. If you fall into this category, please visit our other country pages for information on all other countries in which Small World provides adoption services.
