Ukraine: Adoption Program

Small World has been placing children for adoption from Ukraine since 1993. The adoption program in Ukraine has changed slightly through two moratoriums since then, but children are finding families through Small World’s ministry. Approximately 800 children from Ukraine are placed into American homes each year.
Families wishing to adopt from Ukraine can expect to receive an invitation to travel in approximately 6 months after your dossier is registered in Kiev. Families will travel to select a referral from the State Department for Adoption approximately 1 month after receiving the invitation. Referrals from Ukraine are for children 14 months and older.
You have a choice of 1 or 2 trips to complete your adoption in Ukraine. If you choose 2 trips the first will be 10 days and the second for 5 days. These trips will be approximately 2 weeks apart. If you choose 1 trip your stay will be approximately 1 month in Ukraine.
Throughout the adoption process your child is cared for in an orphanage. Small World’s experienced staff will lead you through the process step by step. Our representatives in Ukraine are English speaking and are dedicated to making your trip to Ukraine an informative and memorable experience.
